If you’re reading this, it’s highly likely that you use some type of beauty product on a daily basis. Whilst these products promise to smooth wrinkles, highlight your cheekbones or give you fuller lips, have you ever looked at the finer details on the packaging? I’m going to hazard a guess and think that a large proportion of you haven’t or if you have there may be a portion of you that’s not 100% sure about what they all mean. It’s easy to ignore them, they’re usually a teeny tiny cluster of cryptic symbols printed at the back or on the bottom of a product.
It’s becoming more important than ever to know what we’re putting on our skin. Understanding these symbols is critical because no one wants to put something on their face that’s months out of date, right?
This blog post aims to demystify some of the key beauty care symbols that you see on the products in your makeup bag, beauty shelf or on your bedside table; it’s my simple, straight forward guide for what to look out for. Have a read and let me know your thoughts.
I am not a morning person. Waking up in the morning to an alarm at 6:45am is definitely not something I enjoy. I try and leave everything until the last minute to enjoy those extra moments snuggled under my duvet. The only problem with this routine is that I don’t have enough time to apply any skincare or makeup before I head out for the day. So, in between trying to get my hair to behave and heading out the door to leg it to the tube station I pack my little beauty commuter kit. It’s full of mini must-have’s which make sure that I’m prepped and ready before walking into the office.
I know amongst my friends there are strong opinions about women applying makeup on public transport. You either love it or hate it, but when you need a little extra skin boost and you have so little time; needs must.
If you’re in the same position as me but aren’t sure what to include in your commuter beauty kit then here are my recommendations…
Skin breakouts really are the worst. They love to crop up at the most inconvenient times be it just before an interview or hours before the first date with Mr Dreamboat from Bumble. Whilst my skin does play ball now that I’m in my early thirties (ouch – it hurts every time I say it!) it hasn’t always been an easy road. Like many teenagers, my skin went through a tumultuous time back then and I would LOVE to pick them! These days I suffer from the occasional whopper now and again but generally speaking my skin has been so much clearer in the last few years. Why? Well, a few tips I’ve received through work, from friends and a lot of trial and error.
So, if you’re after clearer, brighter skin, here are a few tips and tricks that may work for you…
I’ve been obsessed with skincare and make up for as long as I can remember. After road testing an array of products over the years I know that i’ve definitely paid over the odds for beauty, (yes, I have bought items just because the bottle looked pretty – shameful I know). These brands may be all glam, but they don’t stand up to their claims. Knowing what I know now, looking and feeling good doesn’t have to stretch your wallet. Great beauty buys are available to everyone, sometimes they can just be trickier to find. In this post i’ve omitted products which I have harped on about over and over, such as the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. No one wants to know for the millionth time how much I love it! The products in this post are those which represent great value for money, are effective and do exactly what they claim. Enjoy!
You read that right, 5 minutes and with the right products it can be done! I often have morning’s where i’m strapped for time, pressing my snooze button over and over. With a busy, time poor week it’s sometimes hard to look polished in a hurry. Because of this I have a quick and easy make up solution for early morning’s or before I head out for dinner after work, doing my make up at my desk. So, here’s how I do it, no make up tools required!
