So, it seems you lovely readers like my beauty content. In the spirit of its popularity, I thought I’d start a new beauty series rounding up my beauty favourite’s each month, The Beauty Diaries. The products I’ll be talking about are those which I’ve tried over the last month or so, incorporating them into my daily routine. I love them enough that I had to share them with you.
Let’s crack on shall we?
Skin breakouts really are the worst. They love to crop up at the most inconvenient times be it just before an interview or hours before the first date with Mr Dreamboat from Bumble. Whilst my skin does play ball now that I’m in my early thirties (ouch – it hurts every time I say it!) it hasn’t always been an easy road. Like many teenagers, my skin went through a tumultuous time back then and I would LOVE to pick them! These days I suffer from the occasional whopper now and again but generally speaking my skin has been so much clearer in the last few years. Why? Well, a few tips I’ve received through work, from friends and a lot of trial and error.
So, if you’re after clearer, brighter skin, here are a few tips and tricks that may work for you…
The beauty market is saturated with products that are boxed in pretty packaging and plastered with extraordinary claims, but do they really work and is it worth dropping the cash for this seasons current must-have anti-ageing cream? Not necessarily, no. A higher price point does not necessarily mean that it’s more effective.
In this post, I’ve pitted similar products against each other, a splurge and a steal, talking about my personal experience with them and how they’ve helped to boost my skin. I’ve made some recommendations about where you should spend your money, taking into account that you lovely readers will have different budgets.
All the products in this post are products which I love; I’ve personally used and that I trust to deliver results.
I chatted with a couple of girlfriends at the weekend and it surprised me at how little they knew about skincare. Long before I started working in the beauty industry I took an interest in skincare, being that person who would read web pages upon web pages of product ingredient information, finding out what they did and how they were beneficial to the skin (or not). Whilst I know this isn’t the norm, I assumed many of my peers would have a general idea about what kind of products should be incorporated into their daily routine but it seems that in my circle they don’t. I by no means claim to be an expert but I have learnt and listened to some of the best, asking questions at any opportunity and just ‘soaking up’ as much as I can.
So, in the spirit of the above, I thought I’d put together a post which from my perspective are the cornerstones of a great skincare routine, it’s the lazy girls guide if you like. If you’re a mid-twenty-something or in my case an early thirty-something gal and you want to do the bare minimum, assuming that you don’t want prematurely aged skin then this is what you could be doing…
Lacklustre skin has been something that I’ve struggled with on and off for as long as I can remember. This is in part due to having dry skin but also not having the understanding of what kind of ingredients boost my skin to make it radiant.
February has been a pretty dismal month in London, the rain is relentless and the wind has been brutal (gosh I sound British!) The point is that this weather wreaks havoc on my skin; chapped lips, dryness, and skin dehydration – blurgh! Luckily, through my full-time job and reading up a lot about product ingredients I have found three skincare products that have salvaged my skin. Hurrah! Here are the products that I’ve been relying on this Winter.
