Summer Styling With Sister Jane

Summer is probably my favourite time of year and one of the things that I love the most is creating lovely outfits to wear for the season. This year, London has been extraordinarily hot. We don’t usually have a ‘traditional’ Summer as such so dressing for the heatwave has been a bit of a challenge lately. I sound so British, don’t I?

Since launching last year, my style has evolved; I take more risks, wear bold colours, clashing prints and unusual textures. That’s not to say that I don’t still adore minimal outfit styling, I do, but each day is different. This new found confidence has lead me to discover new ways of pulling items together as well as new brands; Sister Jane being one of them. The Notting Hill-based brand creates vintage-inspired designs with a sprinkle of eccentricity and a nod to the retro style. Its signature aesthetic is colourful, unique and fresh – right up my street!

So, if you’re after something a bit different in your wardrobe this Summer, have a look at these…

Canary Bloom Dress

Fitted at the waist, this mustard hue midi is probably my favourite dress I’ve worn all year! I class it as an ‘anywhere piece’ in that you can style it to fit pretty much any occasion. With mules and a crossbody for the daytime or heels and a pop of red lippy for night time. I recently took it on my city break to Seville, styling it with sandals and it looked fantastic. What I love the most are the pearl button details, they’re unusual, sophisticated and complement the ruffles perfectly. Need a dream dress this Summer? You’ve got one right here!

Swing Swing Midi Skirt

Now, this stripey number is pretty special. Why? The high-waist cut cinches you in at the waist, whilst the midi length keeps you looking sleek. Perfect for women like me who are pear-shaped. The clever positioning of the stripes means that they elongate even the shortest of legs. I am obsessed!

Alabaster Fringe Blouse

I can’t say that I’ve ever come across a shirt as unique as this one. The fringe detail and pleated collar work so perfectly styled with the midi skirt. Beautiful faux pearl buttons accent it with a French girl inspired black tie at the neck. For someone who loves to restyle pieces, this would work equally well with skinny jeans come Autumn.

Deep Creek Midi Dress

Finally, we have this beautiful floral print midi which is a brilliant example of a desk to dinner piece. Styled with flats and my Saint Laurent city bag during the day and sky-high heels and a minimal clutch at night for drinks with the girls. It’s one of those pieces which is multi-functional and multi-seasonal. Come, Autumn, style it with your favourite pair of trainers to complete the look.
