Commuter Beauty

I am not a morning person. Waking up in the morning to an alarm at 6:45am is definitely not something I enjoy. I try and leave everything until the last minute to enjoy those extra moments snuggled under my duvet. The only problem with this routine is that I don’t have enough time to apply any skincare or makeup before I head out for the day. So, in between trying to get my hair to behave and heading out the door to leg it to the tube station I pack my little beauty commuter kit. It’s full of mini must-have’s which make sure that I’m prepped and ready before walking into the office.

I know amongst my friends there are strong opinions about women applying makeup on public transport. You either love it or hate it, but when you need a little extra skin boost and you have so little time; needs must.

If you’re in the same position as me but aren’t sure what to include in your commuter beauty kit then here are my recommendations…

Lip Hydration

Being someone who struggles with dry skin on a daily basis, the lip balm from Fresh is a life saver for my dehydrated lips. Packed with a whole lot of goodness, the Sugar Coconut Hydrating Lip Balm is the perfect primer to apply ahead of my lip colour. The texture is rich and smooth making sure that my lips are nourished and protected all day long. A little tip if you have this in your bag; apply it to cheekbones and down the centre of the nose for a dewy, glowy finish.

Base Layer

The Pixi Rose Flash Balm is the ultimate product when it comes to boosting my lacklustre morning skin. With a fast absorbing formulation, the brightening results are instant. The best thing is that the balmy texture means that there’s no spillage so when the train jolts about there are no embarrassing blunders.

Dry hands

This Le Labo hand cream is subtly scented with Hinoki and nourishing Shea Butter, Sweet Almond and Peony Root to repair dry cracked hands. The cream deeply moisturises without leaving a greasy residue so after application you’re good to go. Le Labo is also Vegan, priding itself on wonderful plant-based fragrances.

For The Eyes

Bobbi Brown’s Intensifying Long-Wear Mascara delivers day-long volume and length for even the smallest of lashes. The jet black colour is smudge-proof so there’s no need to worry about any rogue makeup residue on application. Did I mention that it’s clump-proof and flake, sweat, and humidity-resistant? Uh-mazing!

Brow Definition

Once the lashes are done it’s time to frame the face with Glossier’s Boy Brow. This brilliant brow wand thickens, grooms and fills in any patchy areas in just a few brushes. The wax formula means that it holds the brow hair in place all day long. Want healthy, full brows? Here is your answer.

Lip Colour

And finally, we have the lip colour to complete the look. I’ve been using L’Oreal’s Color Riche Shine lipstick in the colour 462 since the beginning of the year. It instantly adds an extra pop and shine to complete my daytime look. The compact size makes it perfect for doing makeup on-the-go.

So, here are my beauty commuter essentials which only take a matter of minutes to apply. If you’re in the same boat, pack a small bag of essentials so that you can savour an extra few minutes in bed and be ready for your day.
