What To Wear Now: May 2018

This month’s ‘What To Wear Now’ post is all about yellow. It’s in every shop window I look in and I can’t stop buying it! All the fashion reports are saying the same thing, that Gen-Z yellow is the new Millenial pink and I think they’re onto something.

Before I started blogging and having my photograph taken I wasn’t that comfortable in my own skin, I was very set in my ways about the colours I wore; black, black, oh and more black. I was hesitant to try new colours for fear of being judged and being too noticeable. Whilst I still dislike being the centre of attention I have a new found confidence which has also shaped the way I approach my day-to-day style choices. With that in mind, here is why yellow is my focus of the month and why I think you should try it too…

So, first things first, let’s agree that yellow is a bold colour, but it’s also happy, fun, effortless and probably more flattering than you think. It doesn’t matter if you’re not into mustard hues because there are so many other options, from pastels, neon tones to canary colour blocking.

If you’re wary of trying it out, that’s ok. You can incorporate this wonderful colour into your look in the form of a statement earring or a subtle stripe on a crew neck tee. Start small and then build it out. I’d never of worn a printed yellow maxi a year ago and look at me now!

At first glance, you may think this colour is hard to pull off but embrace it as I truly believe you’ll love it. Here is a selection of pieces from this season which can be incorporated into your day-to-day wardrobe not just for now but for the months to come.
