The Shoe To Style With Everything

Four years ago I wasn’t a trainer girl; at all. I probably only had one pair in the back of my cupboard for the rare days I’d frequent the gym. Now I have about twenty and the collection is growing, fast. I bought my first ‘fashion’ trainers after seeing them on a photo shoot for a womenswear brand I used to work for. The stylist styled every look that day with a pair of Stan Smith’s and I was amazed at how versatile they were. They just worked; with everything! At that time, the Adidas Original’s trend had emerged onto the fashion scene, sweeping across street style sites and numerous blogger social feeds.

In my world comfort always wins and trainers are just so d*mn comfy! Style them up or dress them down, trainers really are the most versatile shoe in my wardrobe. Here’s why…

I invested in the Stan Smith’s I’m wearing here four years ago and they’re still going strong. Clean, classic and minimal the design suits my off-duty style to the max. Opting for a pair with a tonal blue panel at the heel I knew instantly that I’d be living in them.

I’m guessing you want to know how to style them, right? Well, that part’s easy. Exuding timelessness these 70s classics look equally cool with your favourite denim as they do with floaty dresses. Just take a look at my Instagram feed and you’ll see that I not only live in this pair but many others too.

I thought it would be easier to break down the looks into some seasonal style equations…

Winter

For the cooler months team an oversized knit with some super skinny jeans and trainers for laid-back cool.

Spring

I love a low-luxe look so throw a leather jacket over your favourite white tee, tuck it into a high-waisted skirt and finish off the look with, yes, you guessed it, a pair of trainers!

Summer

For me, Summer is all about floaty dresses so whether it’s your favourite mini or on-trend maxi a pair of minimal trainers are a sure fire way to stay comfortable and contemporary.

Autumn

I have a penchant for tailoring so I style a wide leg cropped trouser with a lightweight blouse and a pair of my favourite Adidas Originals.

So, there you have it, just a few of the reasons why trainers are the most versatile shoe in my wardrobe. I hope you’ve found a little inspo in this post and if you’re not already a trainer lover I hope you are now! Oh, and if you’re a follower I’m sure you’ll see me gracing your Instagram feeds wearing trainers very soon.
