Why I Love The Mercari App

Can you believe that Valentine’s Day is next week?! This year, date night is going to be low-key. I needed to find the perfect outfit for a night in with my boyfriend. After being super spendy over Christmas and going a little mad in the January sales my purse wasn’t exactly bursting at the seams! Therefore, I decided to set up an online store with the Mercari app so that I could declutter my wardrobe and find a new outfit for the 14th without breaking the bank!

Want to know how I sorted an entirely new look for under £35? Well, read on my friend…

My wardrobe is full to the brim with clothes, shoes, and accessories spilling out of the cupboard doors like a mini avalanche. After realising that there was literally no more room I decided to be brutal and created a pile of items which I’d not worn in the last year. It was big! Whilst, the pieces I’d put to one side had given me a lot of enjoyment and reminded me of some amazing memories, they just weren’t me anymore and it was time to cull them. Seeing that I had so many pieces in great condition I knew that other people may want to buy them which not only benefited me but others too!

Listing the items was so easy. To find out how to, in just a matter of minutes, check out the video I created telling you all about it.

If you’ve watched the video, you’ll see that it’s quick, easy and super straightforward. Click here to view my store and you’ll see that I’ve already sold many pieces of clothing and shoes.

Once I’d sold a few bits I quickly had a growing balance to spend on something new for Valentine’s Day. Unlike other marketplace apps, you don’t need to wade through all the rubbish to find the perfect pieces. There were tons of listings from my favourite retailers so I was excited to get shopping.

I quickly found an incredible red cable knit jumper from River Island for £15, it had only been worn a handful of times so was in impeccable condition. I checked on riverisland.com and if I’d bought it brand new it would have cost me £36! That’s a pretty good saving if you ask me.

Knowing that I would style it with a pair of my favourite Topshop Joni jeans and my beloved Whistles boots I was now on the lookout for the perfect bag to complete the look. Cue, the Zara Mini Shopper bag which is currently available on ebay.com for £39.99! I saw this one which had only been used once for £17!

So, with my pieces arriving a couple of days later I was relaxed in the knowledge that I had an outfit sorted ahead of the big day knowing that I hadn’t spent silly money and had made quite a bit more from selling my pieces.

Next week you need to check out my Instagram feed https://www.instagram.com/i_ambecca where I’ll be showing you my final look.

Mercari is, without doubt, the easiest app I’ve ever used to buy and sell my clothing and one I’ll continue to use in the future. Did I tell you shipping is always free? That’s a big plus in my book.

If you’re in a similar position to me and you are in desperate need of a clear out and some extra money, download the Mercari app here
