My ‘What To Wear Now’ posts have historically been about how to dress for the weather, terribly British I know! This month, I thought it more topical and useful to write about how to dress for the inevitable; the Christmas party season. We’re mid-way through December and the it’s now in full swing! Life has been incredibly busy; i’m only part way through my gift list, my inbox needs clearing before I put on my out of office notification; I still have a bunch of blog posts to write and schedule and there’s only 12 days to go! Luckily, I have my December party looks sorted thanks to Warehouse with their extensive Christmas party outfits available online – bring on the mulled wine and mince pies!
Dressing for this time of year can be tricky, i’m not one to wear a flashing reindeer jumper and Father Christmas earrings. I like to choose a look that I can wear now and wear later. So, i’ve picked a look that’ll dazzle now at the office party, that I can wear with my family on Christmas Eve but, also rock at any point in the new year. Scroll down to see what I chose…
I was instantly drawn to the subtle lapels and cuff details on this tuxedo jacket. It’s the kind of piece I know i’d wear repeatedly, not just at my Christmas party. The sleek cut means that it won’t be bulky so it’ll work perfectly under an overcoat and sit neatly over a top or dress.
The camisole is a wardrobe staple in any colour. You can wear them over and over for so many different occasions. Expertly cut, this camisole has a feminine neckline and double layer detailing at the hem meaning you can tuck it in or out of a high-waisted skirt or trousers. When it’s time to get dancing I can whip off the tuxedo jacket and i’ll be good to go!
I can twirl through cocktail hour in disco metallics wearing this pleated gold foil skirt. Isn’t it just incredible?! When i’m putting together a look I don’t like it to be too ‘busy’. Opting for a stand out piece (the skirt) and subtle styling companions (the jacket and top) make this the centre of the show.
A black clutch is probably the most versatile accessory i’ll ever own. Tucked under my arm or worn as a cross-body this little beauty is the place for all of my essentials. It’s compact enough to hold my phone for lots of snaps, keys and of course some red lippie. Ooh and you can monogram this one too – hello personalisation!
And finally, it wouldn’t be a Christmas party look without some glitz on my ears. These three tiered darlings are bound to make a statement. I’ll show off mine with swept-back hair.
I hope you enjoyed my ‘What To Wear Now’ post with a twist.
