Skincare Routine For A Winter’s Night

Say hello to Winter! This season brings an entirely new set of hurdles to skin. Hot baths, central heating and lower air humidity impair the skin’s barrier function, leaving it susceptible to dehydration – the perfect environment for a dry, lacklustre complexion. It’s now time to change up your skincare routine, taking toners and peels out in favour of hydration boosting products. Think about it this way, you’re not going to wear a summer dress in December, you change your clothing routine, so why not your products too?! Here are the Winter skincare products I use in my night time regime…

Night Time Skincare

Cleanser

The first step for me is cleansing, I do this morning and night without fail. I like to double cleanse as products such as SPF and make up are designed to stay on your face so I like to take the time to remove them. Cleansing properly means that the skin is a perfect base for the products I apply afterwards to work effectively. Stay away from wipes, I know they’re hassle free, but don’t go there! During the Winter months opt for balms, milks or cream cleansers.

One of my favourite Winter cleansers is Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish. It’s enriched with Cocoa Butter that softens and moisturises as well as Rosemary, Camomile and Eucalyptus to soothe. It’s a creamy texture that deeply cleanses to remove daily grime, pollution and make up. Your skin will thank you!

Spritz

Spritzing is the next step in boosting your skin’s hydration levels. If you’re not familiar with my favourite mists, go and check out my blog post all about them here! I love Jurlique’s Balancing Mist, the combination of Rosewater and Grapefruit will soothe and balance dryness, promoting a refreshed complexion. This mist also helps to tighten pores and reduce any redness. This is a must!

Eye Cream

The area around the eyes is delicate and can get dehydrated easily during the cooler months. I go for This Works’ No Wrinkles Tired Eyes as it reduces puffiness, defends against dark circles making it look as though i’ve had a million hours sleep! It’s formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, botanical oils and plant extracts which encourages cell renewal. What’s not to love?

Serum

Darphin’s Hydraskin serum instantly hydrates skin so that it looks plump and radiant. It’s been designed to smooth, soften and restore dull skin with its rich formulation of Sodium Hyaluronate, Pomegranate Extract and Elm Root. If you need that little extra skin boost, Hydraskin will relieve flakiness, replenishing and balancing, for healthy looking skin.

Moisturiser

My final step is to use a deeply nourishing moisturiser. The No Wrinkles Midnight Moisture is the night cream that I swear by. It accelerate the skin’s natural nightly repair process with it’s blend of Persian Silk Tree extract, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid and Shea Butter. When I wake up in the morning my skin is noticeably firmer and brighter.

Tips

  • Drink more water.
  • Resist hot baths & showers. However tempting it may be, hot water dehydrates the skin.
  • Apply your skincare immediately after showering.
  • Keep up the SPF!
  • Use a humidifier.
