It’s got noticeably cooler in the last week so it’s now time to talk about how to dress for September. As a new season arrives it’s about wearing multi-functional pieces that you can mix ‘n’ match with items that are already in your wardrobe. It’s not about buying an item just because it’s ‘on trend’, it needs to be ultra-wearable too. Autumn means chunky knits and investing in classic cuts and practical shades that can be worn all the way through to next Spring. I really enjoy adding new textures and layers working them in with my investment pieces. Here’s my guide to Autumn and what i’ll be wearing now.
My kind of Autumn coat has to be a loose, slightly oversized silhouette that can be cinched at the waist. At this time of year, this cut can be easily layered over everything from snuggly, soft knitwear to sharp tailoring. I opt for grey as it’s a versatile colour so it’ll work with everything. Here are some of my other favourites…
A staple knit needs to provide both warmth and versatility, that’s why I like to go for the relaxed, chunky silhouette. It means layering potential over a laid back tee or sharp shirting making it the ideal item to throw-on-and-go. Why not add a pop of colour this season and opt for Mustard?
A tailored trouser is a timeless silhouette, a classic shape that’ll always make you feel put together. They’ll flatter the waist and elongate the leg, a staple i’ll be living in this season, for work or dinner.
Loafers are a versatile shoe that work perfectly with a sharp tailored trouser in the cooler months and floaty dresses in the summer. A style with longevity, they’ll last season after season pulling your look together for polished perfection.
