Red Dress Edit

Red is a power colour and for me a red dress is a wardrobe staple. It’s never an item that is out of style no matter the season so it can be worked in with many trend-led pieces. It’s easy to choose more sombre colours now that the days are getting shorter, but it’s important to have a few stand-out staples that will work for multiple occasions. Here are a few of my favourite dresses that you can wear now…

Self Portrait

When I was looking for an occasion dress last month I knew I wanted to wear Self Portrait. I was browsing on when I came across this beauty, I knew it had to be mine! Cut from guipure lace and an opaque lining the one-shoulder silhouette is so different from anything I have in my wardrobe. I love the way that the triangular cutout band accentuates my waist and goes into a lovely full midi skirt. Here i’ve styled it with a pair of hoops from Davina Combe and a pair of strappy chunky flats from New Look.

This vintage inspired red jungle print dress has been on my radar for some time now. The billowing sleeves and deep V neckline are balanced perfectly with the thigh skimming side slits in the skirt. Made from 100% silk, this is the kind of dress you could wear over and over; to brunch, to the beach or to dinner. Styling this maxi is easy, Stan Smith’s or a pair of chunky heels and you’ll be good to go!

Olivia Rubin

Boho glam meets Bianca Jagger, this beautiful maxi is truly divine. Long sleeves are perfect to cover up your arms at this time of year and the fitted waist exudes femininity. Olivia’s maxi could be styled with mules or even a pair of Adidas Original’s making it the perfect dress to take you from day to night.

I love a smock dress, they’re just so easy to throw on. This fun and flirty number from ASOS has cute frill sleeves and pretty detailing at the bust. I’d wear mine with my Chloe Susanna’s and a biker jacket to toughen up the look.

Max Mara

Looking for an easy daytime dress that can we worn to the office but then styled for post-work drinks? Well here you are. This gorgeous, rich red swing silhouette flatters the figure with its round neckline and soft pleat. Style it with statement jewellery and ballet pumps to complete the look.

Miss Selfridge

This Miss Selfridge mini is everywhere right now and I can see why. The pretty sleeves will keep arms warm in September’s changeable weather and the frill detailing ensures maximum femininity. Finish the look with a pair of Senso boots and a leather jacket.
