Morning Skincare Routine

Establishing a daily routine is the key to maintaining a healthy complexion. Whilst many of us take our make up off at night and pop on a moisturiser before bed, we also don’t invest enough time in our skin before we head out for the day. Everyone’s skin is different so it’s important to find a routine that works for you. If you read my Sensitive Skincare Saviours post in the Summer you’ll know that i’ve experienced many highs and lows trying to find products that don’t irritate my skin. Here is a simple morning routine that takes 10 minutes!

My Morning Skincare Routine

Cleanser

I see cleansing as the cornerstone of a great skincare routine. You’re not only getting rid of residual make up but also helping to de-clog pores too. By cleansing in the morning you’re also prepping your skin to make the very most of the products you apply to your skin. In the morning I usually double cleanse, what is double cleansing? Well just what it says on the tin, cleansing your face twice. Check out this post from beauty expert, Caroline Hirons explaining what it all means.

I’ve talked about the Light Time Cleanse & Glow from This Works before, i’m obsessed with it! They call it the “one minute miracle wash” and it really is.  Enriched with Vitamin C and Jojoba this cleansing balm does wonders to invigorate my skin in the morning, Vitamin E helps to soothe any redness, brightening my skin and reducing the appearance of fatigue. At £30 this product really is value for money!

Mist

The next step in my routine is misting. I use the Caudalie Beauty Elixir which helps to  tighten pores, boost skin radiance and smooth fine lines. It’s multi-functional too, you can mist it before moisturising, after applying make up to set it or spritz it throughout the day for skin rejuvenation.

Serum

This Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum is a recent purchase of mine, but now I can’t be without it, quickly becoming a staple in my morning routine. As I suffer from dry skin I needed to find something with an extra boost to deeply moisturise my skin. This serum restores the skin’s water balance making it hydrated and fresh. It’s infused with organic grape water that moisturises and hydrates, Grape-seed Polyphenols which is an anti-oxidant and Hyaluronic acid which will help to reduce the appearance of fine lines. My skin saviour!

Moisturiser

Now the moisturising step. Did I tell you I love Caudalie?! Another product from their Vinosource collection is this Intense Moisture Rescue Cream that deeply nourishes my skin leaving it plumped and hydrated, the perfect base for even make up. The cream helps to restore the hydrolipidic film and strengthens the skin barrier making it the perfect product to use now that we’re coming into colder weather.

Eye Cream

More often than not I wake up with puffy eyes post-sleep therefore I use the Light Time Open Eyes from This Works to de-puff and tighten. Ingredients include Argan Oil to protect and nourish the delicate skin around the eyes and Aloe Vera to soothe any irritation.

SPF

If you’ve read my post Protect Like A Pro then you’ll know that this is my go-to SPF. It’s a double action product that protects and brightens skin at the same time. Shielding the skin from UVA and UVB rays, it also protects against ageing free radicals. Absorbing quickly into the skin I pop this over the top of my moisturiser whatever the weather.

Lip Balm

Finally, I finish my routine with this lip balm from Avene, it’s a product that I carry around with me in my handbag and I find that it’s a great base for applying a lipstick. Providing immediate relief from dry, chapped lips it protects and soothes throughout the day.
