I love the barely there make up look, it’s my go-to for work and easy weekends. Whilst I never profess to be a make up expert these are the products and techniques that work for my skin. I hope you enjoy the post…
Prepping The Skin
After thoroughly cleansing my face I always apply in transit skin defence SPF 30. It’s so important to start with a nourishing base layer to hydrate the skin, it means that when I apply my foundation it’ll go on evenly and cover all my blemishes. Using a light-weight daily moisturiser with an SPF will definitely help keep my skin looking youthful and the calming Vitamin E will help reduce any redness.
I’ve loved this primer for years and in part I credit my lack of wrinkles to this amazing serum. I apply the Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum a few minutes after the moisturiser has soaked into my skin massaging it in with my finger tips. It leaves my skin feeling super hydrated and the essential oils soften the appearance of fine lines so that i’m ready to apply my foundation.
The Added Extra
For days when I want a little extra skin boost I mix in some Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder and apply it on my forehead, nose and cheeks. It gives my skin a luminous glow and a subtle tint. When I don’t fancy wearing foundation i’ll just wear the Light Wonder on its own – it’s great at enhancing tired skin.
I’m very pale so it’s hard to find a foundation that matches my skin tone without making me look slightly jaundice. I came across the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder (Fair .01) and haven’t looked back since. When I apply it with my Beauty Blender it gives me perfect coverage so that my skin looks illuminated and dewy. This is my must-have!
The Under Eye Retoucher
I also swear by the Charlotte Tilbury Mini Miracle Eye Wand (Fair .01) it’s a perfect under eye pick-me-up. One end has a hydrating eye cream with Hyaluronic Acid and the other has light-reflecting micro-particles to help cover up any dark circles – dreamy.
I prefer using a pressed powder as i’ve always had trouble blending liquids and creams so I stick to what I know. I’ve been using the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Bronzing Veil (Tropical Nights) for a while now, it’s great because it also doubles up as an eye shadow. The ombre palette means that I can customise my colour to create a natural sun-kissed look.
The Nars blush (Orgasm) has been a make up bag staple of mine for years. I apply a light shimmer to the apples of my cheeks for a little colour boost.
The Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector® Liquid Highlighter in (Moonstone) is a new addition to my make up regime. This luminizer really is the best i’ve ever used. Pat it down your nose, across cheek bones and your cupid’s bow for a natural-looking, effortless glow. I’m terrible at contouring and highlighting so this bottle of magic will lift my complexion any day of the week.
I’d love brows like Cara Delevingne but the simple fact is that i’ll never have them. Mine are blonde, sparse and patchy therefore I need a lot of help in this department. I was initially wary about using any kind of brow product for the fear of looking like i’d have a pair of slugs living on my forehead. My trick to get fuller more shapely brows is to brush them upwards with an old toothbrush or clean mascara wand, then shape them with the Blink Brow Bar Brow Definer in (Cinnamon Spice). The applicator is slim so you really do have a lot of precision. I then gently stroke upwards on the inner part of the brows for definition.
My next step is to use the Blink Brow Bar Cinnamon Spice Brow Gel to keep everything in place. I start at the middle part of the eyebrow and brush in the direction of the hair growth. C’est parfait!
Charlotte Tilbury again! The Full Fat Lashes mascara wand lengthens, curls, separates and seriously boosts volume – it’s incredible! I’m yet to find a mascara that matches what this can do for my short lashes, so until then i’ll be championing this miracle worker.
This is my first lippy from Charlotte Tilbury the Hot Lips Lipstick in (Kim K W). It’s a more neutral tone with a hint of peach, the perfect finishing touch to channel my inner 60s girl.
Usually i’ll put a light coat of Laura Mercier Lip Glace in (Bare Baby) on to add a subtle shine. I find that it enhances my lip colour and plumps up my pout. I always keep a smaller size in my handbag to re-apply as needed throughout the day.
